Content of the poem aside, have you ever seen/heard a more revolting audience? Why do they feel the need to snap and yammer at the lines in the poem? It's not even a nice sounding poem, it's an essay, none of the lines are particularly contextually hard-hitting or aesthetically interesting either. These people just can't be quiet and listen without offering input, which is super ironic given the nature of the poem.

And on the content of the poem, I think it's representative of unhealthy thinking. Looking at your whole life through one single filter of opposition. I say sorry before asking anything in class, and always have. My teachers from 8th grade until 12th, when I made an effort to stop, made fun of me for starting questions with "sorry". I'm a 6'1" man with a beard and broad shoulders.

Not that I don't like the poem, or that I think women's being told to be skinny and being told to be quiet isn't an interesting thing to explore. I quite liked it, actually.

Why doesn't German have any good literature other than Faust?
