>one of the best philosophers
No. Not even a philosopher.

Lem's not a philosopher. He's a pre-reddit scientism acolyte, a very well-read one, but still just an acolyte. His specialist knowledge, including on scientific topics, and especially on philosophy and theology, was that of a hobbyist. Of that I am certain based on my reading of his fiction and non-fiction, and having heard some of his interviews.

What he does with that knowledge is futurism that pushes him into philosophising, which then turnes out flat and directionless, not very focused and thus all over the place. It is only to be expected and I'm sure he himself wouldn't dare be so pretentious to consider himself a philosopher. To say that he's one of the best from a group that includes the likes of Heidegger, the Frenchies, American lefties, picrelated, or Benedict, and also such towering figures like Habermas or MacIntyre, or even Nick fucking Land, is farcical. Be. honest with me, have you read any actual philosophers of the 20th century? Are you even older than 20? I doubt that, given how you first mention his supposed prowess in philosophy, and then mention his wordplay as if it were reinforcing your claim. Anon, are you retarded?

That said, Lem's the only sci-fi writer that I ever bothered to read, likely one of a very few worth reading at all. Where he's at his best is humour and ridicule. It's all quite smart and inventive, but it's not philosophy.

Nah, it's just ignorance. Both Russian and Polish are beautiful languages, but anglos simply can't appreciate them because they can only speak their simpleton language.
I kniw Polish, Russian, German, English and also learning Italian. Of those five, English is by far the most plebeian, sterile language; uglier than French from which it took vast vocabulary, less 'capable' than German while sounding worse, and no anglo will ever come close to comprehending the possibilities that inflection such as that in Russian and Polish opens from literary standpoint.
