>”don’t try to understand modern art until you know the history”
This coming from someone who has probably read more about the history of art than has actually spent time in a fucking contemporary gallery. Imagine telling people that in order you need to understand modern art you have to read books about it, rather than actually going to see the work yourself. This argument has already been debunked in this thread, so why are you still trying? It’s so obvious that your dislike for modern art is politically motivated, rather than being grounded in any of your direct experiences with it (and I’m going to say they amount to very little).

I feel you dude, love is amazing. Never thought my gf would also be my best friend but that’s how it is at this point, I feel like I never left the honeymoon phase and we’ve been together for over 3 years now. Promiscuity was never an interest for me, but now I can’t even look at other women the way I look at her. I can’t read all the vile misogynistic posts on here without thinking “they’re only like this because they don’t have what I have.” I’m even eating healthier and quit smoking. My life is incalculably better thanks to her, if she never came into my life I’d probably have killed myself by now

Any fans of Lee Bul here? Visited her exhibition at the Hayward gallery and was completely blown away by her vision. Akira body-horror meets blade runner cyborg fetishism meets Martian architecture. The sheer variety of textiles she uses in her works warrants even some interest.
