Of course they're in the best position to know. Others can't read your mind, but you can, and _only_ you can. Why should other people's subjective views take priority over yours?

You can change your experience of the world, yes, but that's not Berkeley's Idealism, since to him there was one absolute guarantor of objective truth, and that was God. Truths exist because God perceives them to be so. It's not a matter of everyone having their own truth. If what they see as true aligns with what God sees, only then is it _the_ truth. And some subjective positions are in closer alignment with God's objective one than others.
