the 1:14 train, and I even got out on the platform.I'm sorry you did two errands at the station for nothing.
Barring unforeseen things, we will be in Loudun next Thursday;we will leave on Saturday, my brother-in-law having to be away that day, but we will come back the following week, Tuesday 8 or Wednesday 9, and we plan to stay there until Friday or Saturday.I hope these dates won't bother you too much for the trips you are planning.

I am sorry to see from your last letter that your health is still far from good;I hope however that it will improve.Unfortunately, the weather is very bad since we are here: thunderstorms, storms, almost constant rains;it really isn't summer weather.However, here it is usually much better, and the sky is not at all the same as in the Paris area;but this year the sun is almost always absent.There are neither mountains nor hills, at most hills;but there are forests very close to Blois, and one can take quite a number of walks in the vicinity.This, I believe, is the information you are asking me for;in any case, if you make up your mind to come, don't do it until the first days of september, because we will be away by then.

The only one I know of in English is "The Simple Life of Rene Guenon" by Charconac which is a very short and comfy read. I really have to emphasize the comfy part. Something about that book really just exudes the snugness of the provincial life of a small French town.
