Opus Pistorum by Miller is true smut.

Beware to steer people away from 120 Days in Sade's case though.

Read Sade. He goes into the psychological side of sadism and masochism as well. I'd suggest starting with Philosophy in the Bedroom.

Also, I don't know about Buddhists, but you may be quite interested in the Aghori, a Hindu sect that deliberately engages in taboo behaviour to overcome a sense of duality and realise it's all glorious Shiva or something to that extent.

There are, friend. I enjoyed Philosophy in the Bedroom the most, followed by The New Justine and Juliette. 120 Days of Sodom isn't really worth your while. Dialogue Between a Priest and a Dying Man is a brief introduction to his kind of attitude.

You made the right choice m8, Phil Bed is one of his more philosophy minded works. It's not even very pornographic. It speaks for itself and is quite great.

Not sure about main characters, but Sade's works have the highest rapist to non-rapist ratio in the world and they make excellent cases for themselves. Try (The New) Justine, it's mostly rapists raping people and giving philosophical speeches to their victims about how rape is fun and justified.

Yes, those are examples of his work. Both from Justine I believe. There are also priests who masturbate while letting five year girls piss in their mouth and such and in some of his works people get fucked and burned to death, skinned alive etc. all for sexual. There's also plenty of murder, scat, incest, snot sucking, piss drinking, letting people get raped by servants with syphilis and then sewing their cunt shut so the poisonous sperm can linger a bit longer to insure infection. But there are also politcal treatises, gentle sexual education about the clitoris, the female orgasm, sexuality in different cultures, contraception (including condoms but mostly anal sex) and all kinds of peculiarities as well as grand speeches on a naturalistic worldview, the place of vices in nature's order, a sort of holistic balance that justifies amoralism etc. It's a fascinating mix of philosophy and depravity mostly.

Sade's work is both pornographic and insightful, especially Philosophy in the Bedroom, Justine and Juliette.

I realise this isn't what you mean, but I'm a godforsaken libertine posting for my own pleasure.

Mostly. It's Sade's least interesting work and an unfinished shitheap. If you want interesting Sade, go for Philbed, Justine or Juliette.

Sade is great, 120 days is shit. Unfinished, uninteresting etc. Phil in the Bedroom, Justine or Juliette is where it's at.

Juliette. 120 Days is a shitty unfinished boring. I'm a big fan of Sade though, but 120 Days is just his worst.

My recommended order of reading:

Dialogue Between a Priest and a Dying Man
Philosophy in the Bedroom
The New Justine
Juliette
120 Days of Sodom

The order is not terribly important though, starting with Juliette is fine if you have it laying around.

The Marquis de Sade of course. Part smut, part philosophy.

Are there any more writer flowcharts like pic related?
Would like some for reference in the future, for friends and myself.

For example: James Joyce
Dubliners -> Portrait of the Artist -> Ulysses ->Finnegans Wake/Poems & Plays

Depends on your preferences. I prefer Juliette.

Also, did you know Samuel Beckett drove Andre the Giant to school?

Also, you must read Sade if you are looking for edge.

I suggest starting with The New Justine or Juliette. 120 Days is shit and Phil in the Bedroom may not be edgy enough. I think Juliette is the most edgy, but it all depends if you want a mean victim that gets fucked over or fucks people over.

Yes, Sade is very much worth reading. I recommend starting with either Philosophy in the Bedroom or The New Justine.
