/lit/ - Literature

I've hated reading my entire life up until just a few months ago. I was recommended a fantasy series and ended up binge reading it over the course of a few days. I have since read a few other fantasy series and am now looking to expand into other genres. I am now interested in getting into philosophy as well as good literature in general. I want to create a list of books to read throughout 2019. My question is: what books should this list contain?

I'm going to Spain soon, and now have the opportunity to read more, what books do you recommend /lit/?

How many books do you read per month, per week?


I am 'new' to reading. I've always wanted to read something because everyone tells books makes you intelligent and all that shit but due to procrastination I didn't read much if at all.
This past month I read 4 books (currently reading sci-fi classics) which is my record but I guess most of you read 5 times more in a month.

By the way how can I increase my speed? I read 1 page for 1,5-2mins.

I am looking for the name of a children's book I used to have when I was growing up. In the book there was a kid I want to say named Felix, but not 100%. Basically he is on the street at night and all the houses look like scary faces until he shines his flashlight on them revealing that they are just normal houses and he doesn't need to be scared.

Thats sorta all I remember so if anyone know's what Im talking about, that would be helpful.

So I'm an internet noob. And I'm not about to put Tor on my computer because to be honest I'm pretty scared about that. I've been poking around some deep web research, and I saw that banned books is a part of the deep web. Anyone know what kind of books these are? Why they're banned? Have any of you read them?

I don't know if you guys are interested in this or not: my grandfather has been reading incessantly his entire life and knows a lot about literature, even though he never had a "career" in it. He speaks fluent French, German, Spanish and Portuguese fluently.
