People from other countries tend to be FAR AWAY, and write things IN DIFFERENT LANGUAGES.
The only non western nation with any serious media output is Japan, in the form of their popular cartoons and comic style. Even they have little in the way of novels in our bookstores.
Outside of biographies and memoirs the contents of a book are anonymous, the appearance of the writer is irrelevant and there is no feedback element from the reader to the author in the process of reading. I could have read books by people of various races without knowing.

That reddit post is one of the most utterly pretentious things I have ever read in my entire life, 100% pseudointellectual, contrived, and rammed with pre packaged McBuzzwords. These people claim to be motivated by ethical concerns, but clearly take no interest in them on any serious level, which is neatly displayed in the thin and glib perspective they have in their race relations spiel. Race relations is peak fashion, so like, totally IN right now. Fashionable, suggestible, fraudulent, holier than thou hypocrites, trying to humble brag project their intellect unpromted, while aiming to farm social credit in the same breath.
I once read a book about Tibet.
It was written in 1929, by a French white woman who explored Asia for many many years.
She was the first westerner to ever visit one of the places she saw.
That explains why a westerner at home would have difficulty finding books written by someone from Tibet.
That explains the entire dynamic being discussed.
Again, people from other countries tend to be FAR AWAY, and write things IN DIFFERENT LANGUAGES.
