Gnosticism is a universalistic theological modality, per the etymology of the word itself.

1. The primary contrastive duality of gnosticism is that between the mutually adverse principles of Good, and Evil, not between univers(al)ity or unity, and diversity or multiplicity; conflation of these two principles leads to globalism.

2. Contrarily: gnosticism promotes universalism; integral exploration & mediation of diversity conduces to imploration & reintegration of university, the latter of which does not negate, nor preclude, the ontological particularity of the former.

1. What you are describing pertains to fanaticism, which consists in dazzlement by appearance, and in subordination of reason —if any— to emotion; neither of these factors are necessarily limited to one object, or subject.

2. Gnosticism in general, and Christian gnosticism especially, essentially attracts noble (derived from root: "gno") —id est: sapient— individuals, in whom reason superordinates over emotion.


Few things are more ironical & futile than nescient —agnostic— individuals attempting to explain what gnosticism is.
