I used reddit before I switched to 4chan, so I can give you criticism of it that wasn't informed by '>reddit' posting on 4chan

To preface:
- Some subreddits are alright, usually only the ones with enough membership for new material but not enough for a circlejerk to develop

- most of 4chan is utter shit as well, but I've never seen any comment chain on reddit that rivals what is discussed on /lit/,
>implying /lit/ is sophisticated
most of it isn't, it has its moments

The majority of the userbase seem to be self depreciating introverts, and all the cultural baggage that comes with this, it also has a major liberal streak running through it, and the most developed philosophy is 'hurt people bad, help people good'. It's essentially just a round table of pats on the back and who can find the best meme or pun to reply to this comment
