Social media are (re)designed to keep you pacified and depressed, feeding you faux-validation points from nobodies so you could slave away afterwards. 4chan became reddit with (You) for upvotes. It also has a bonus of herding malcontent youth into easily controlled political cults, like poltards or their tamer Qtards brand, where they keep everyone as depressed as everyone else on the site.
Like any opium, it is really hard to get off to, especially after years of narcotic dependency. 4channer is the modern drunken helot, a slave pacified and debased.
