This was way better than Call of the Crocodile. It was pure madness in book form and the Pokémon battle at the end was amazing. which Gardner book should I read next?

Would you rather read a book with mediocre story but very good prose or an interesting story written in a boring way?

Why the fuck do the two boys talk like they’re a couple in this? They sound like they’re dating. I know f gardener writes characters weird but this is not how two friends talk to one another. It sounds romantic.

That’s the feeling I had the entire time reading pic related lmao. I don’t know if the boys were intended to be gay or not. Maybe I’m reading too much into it. But the way they talked to one another made it seem like they were dating.

These books are overmemed here. But read this if you want something that matches the meta weirdness of mgs2’s ending

Call of the Arcade > Call of the Crocodile

The gardnerbooks have a lot of edgelord shit but the villain in this is so edgy it’s to the point of being ridiculous. Don’t get me wrong though. That’s part what makes these books so readable. Sam is the name of the villain. He’s like Judge Holden on steroids once he gets into his baffling motives.

I think the two boys in this are in a relationship. It’s not said but that’s how it came off to me.

This. Same with Call of the Arcade. Lots of disturbing implications about the dark web. They’re fucked up but honestly fun as hell reads.

Can I ask an unusual question about these books? Are Johnnie and Mark gay? Unless I missed something it’s never stated. But the way these boys talk to each other made me wonder if they’re in a relationship. Not intended as a troll toward anons on here who like this series. I have no problems with LGBTQ+ people and was just wondering.

That book is awesome. I loved the twist. I always knew /lit/ would write a magnum opus eventually. Although I do think pic related is the better book.

Do people really think Call of the Crocodile is better than this one? I read both and preferred Arcade.
