I want to become a living encyclopedia on all things new and interesting in the field of biology.

Synthetic Biology and Regenerative Medicine are of particular intrest.
To cure disease, cancer, and prolong the human health span. This is of utmost importance to me.

God willing, I'd love to have a wife and kids. I think I'd haunt the earth a bitter ghost if I died before raising a family.

Why do people hate futurists? I talked to my roomates about how one day we will use distributed computing clusters as a unit of government instead of elected officials. I had what I thought were good reasons and they just completely dismissed me and give the same tired 'stop navel gaving. not realistic. stop dreaming. useless discussion'. All inventions begin as ideas. Why is it wrong to design something starting from the consequences?

Is this just because science fiction is always dystopian and cyberpunk? The problem is the structure of most stories. The conflict is the essence of the story. Most of the words/time in a story is used to describe the main events in the conflict. The conflict must be caused by some harmful element in society that we didn't think through because you do not write stories about good parts of life. Main characters happiness has to dip.

Furthermore, it makes no sense to spend so much time constructing a universe only to have a normal plot. Artists know to hedge their bets and structure their shit around a single coherent idea they want people to think about.

End result is that people see only the bad of change when really it is mostly good. Look at ghost in the shell. Fact is most people get to live longer lives doing whatever they want, and that is when we have very little social progress amidst vast technological progress. Or maybe authors are just pessimists.

anyway, what are some good science fiction books? preferably ones that are becoming true.
