Can someone explain the concept of the Holy Trinity? How is 1+1+1=1? How is Jesus God? Wouldn't that mean that man killed God? How does this all connect? I genuinely don't understand.

Yeah it's a literal self-contradiction only resolvable by "heresies" such as modalism or tritheism.
The way I see it, Trinitarians define "God" not as a being but as a sort of category. That is the only way pic related makes sense. Just as you can say "pizza is not pasta is not stew but all are food" so you say "Christ is not the Holy Spirit is not the Father but all are God". In this way "God", just like "food", becomes a category under which "Father, Son, and Holy Spirit"/"pizza, pasta, and stew" are grouped. But this is completely different to how most people imagine God, which is as a definite being with agency with whom you can interact. Most people don't view "God" as a mere category. So clearly having "three persons" under the category of "God" is the same as having three gods.

Is the Christian trinity just a final synthesis of Greek thought? Father = Platonic One, Son = Stoic Sage, Holy Spirit = Aristotelian God

Why do people have such a hard time understanding the trinity? Why do some people consider it to be crypto-polytheism? Why couldn't the same being have more than one aspects, like a gemstone has multiple facets but is still one singular thing?

You're retarded as fuck. I mentioned the hypostatic union because it's relevant to my point about the trinity. Jesus' human needs are contradictory to the essence of God, hence those needs are within the essence of Jesus' humanness, not his Godliness. It's perfectly reasonable for the quality of not knowing when the Father will initiate judgement day to be assigned to the individual essences of each person, and not within the essence of God. The fucking traditional trinity image reveals this. The Father is not the Son, yes. Those are individual essences, yet they both have the essence of God. If you actually think each person acts within each other (Jesus doing the holy spirit's work, etc), you're denying the individual of the person's within the trinity.

It is obvious that if I wanted to copy something, I would have to mimic the characteristics of the thing I am copying. e.g: In cloning, the clone must have identical eye colour etc. Aristotle tells us this in his metaphysics. The problem with the trinity is that the characteristics contradict. G-d the father is transcendent whilst G-d the son is imminent, for example. This is not a problem if you were to say that each of the three persons simply contribute to the nature of G-d, but the catechism of the catholic church has already declared that a heresy; claiming that "each person of the trinity is fully G-d". How can G-d be both fully imminent and fully transcendent? St. Thomas Acquinus himself wrote in his "Summa Theologica" that "The only limit to G-d's omnipotence is that G-d cannot deny his own nature." However, to be fully transcendent and fully imminent IS denying the nature because they contradict. The only way to reconcile this is to say that G-d is part transcendent and part imminent which the church has already called a heresy.
