Why is he dismissed as pseudo-intellectual fodder for 14 year olds?

Well I'm currently studying Journalism and we're given a standing assignment to write a review of a book every month.

I guess the best piece of advice I could give is that depending on the word limit, you shouldn't spend too much time on the plot. Write a brief 4-5 sentences on the plot and that's it. Obviously you should refer to it later through the review, but don't write a thorough synopsis unless the criteria specifically states that you should.
