I really want to read The Brothers Karamazov, but I can't find the P&V translation anywhere, all I can find is Constance Garnett all over the place (like 5 pdfs already from different sources)
Is this translation worth reading or should I buy a pdf from amazon or something (i never did this)? I can't find it in the library because i'm not from an english speaking country.
I really want to read this book it changed my friend's life and I think it'll change mine too

Holy fuck /lit/.

Why is this book so dialogue-heavy? No description, minimal action, chapter upon chapter of dialogue.

I don't even mind the dialogue that much, but jeez, I'm at like 250 pages in--at the part where Ivan goes on a three chapter long diatribe on God being an asshole to Alyosha in the restaurant--and it's starting to feel like a chore.

Should I continue?

It's not americanized and french translation, It's abridged and unabridged, They have the same deal in france.
You might try Anna Karenina by Tolstoy, it's easier going than War and Peace,
but it's not neccessary reading if you don't find yourself getting into it.

You might want to pick up Brothers Karamazov or Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky they're good.
And, I can't stress Terry Pratchett enough if you're looking for unconventional fantasy..
you know what? even if you weren't looking for unconventional fantasy I'd stress it.
