For some reason they decided the Harry Potter works were some great philosophical tome like Phenomenology of Spirit or something.

So to them finding out that JK Rowling isn't morally pure is like finding out that Confucius or Lao Tzu weren't morally pure. Can you really use their writing's for moral guidance if they themselves weren't good people?

In a way I'm glad this happened because people shouldn't be allowed to treat a children's book like it's anything more than a children's book.

I'd say that whilst right-wing populism is becoming the dominant ideology - especially in places like England - the idea that the working class are anti-intellectual poltards is still way off.

I'd suggest that it's not really an embrace of right-wing values - these people haven't actually become more conservative in any way I can tell - but an embrace of populism. In Scotland the SNP has sucked up basically all of Labours old working class base by using left wing populist and nationalist rhetoric.

I still believe David Benatar wasn't really serious with antinatalism, he just seems like an extreme edgelord who wanted to write something that would freak people out. His writing comes across as very insincere.

But it's spawned this movement of genuinely mentally disturbed people who actually seem to worship death in a weird way, Jiwoon Hwang is a perfect example.

Meanwhile Benatar instead seems to be concerning himself with being the philosopher of incels. One of his reasons as to why life is suffering is because there's a chance that you might not have sex, he has a completely insincere mindset.
