Book recommendations within the realm of fiction / non-fiction that have the notion of philosophic beliefs would be great.

This is the only Vonnegut novel I've read thus far. I found him to be charming and humorous at times, but never actually incisive. I also assumed that his primary ideologies mostly encompassed misguided, almost juvenile anger at white America.

That being said, would /lit/ recommend I read one of his more praised works?
