>take /lit/'s advice and start with the greeks
>it actual works

Ok, that was pretty based.

Now where do I go after the Greeks?

How important is it to read Plato, Aristotle and philosophers in general? I'm currently reading a lot of primary history sources and generally try to improve my knowledge about Western history.

However, I can't really get into reading philosophy works. As of yet, I have read a few works by the Presocratics and Plato but he's losing me on concepts such as the soul or immortality because I don't believe in them and find it hard to follow what the dialogue is on about. These concepts seem outdated and reading about it feels like a waste of time.

How do you shake that feeling of elitism? That there is a huge difference( though not necessarily that you are superior) between you and normies so that you can interact with them without an underlying feeling that the conversation is shallow and unworthy of existence?
