Robert Heinlein is a classic example of libertarianism. However if you are looking for more right wing libertarianism then you should read his later books particularly starship troopers onward.

Is Robert A. Heinlein kino?

wtf bros, was expecting political intrique and alien worlds but got 60's era free love, sex cult shit instead

This is some actual literature for once, not theory. It's just some good, honest, artistically enjoyable reading. It's about a Martian, a sex cult, and the human perspective. I can't say I endorse all the ideas that Robert A. Heinlein endorses in this novel but it's such a good read and you all deserve to experience it.

I can't be the only person who thinks that the latter half of this book is jarringly bad relative to the first half, right?

I wanted to like this one, but I came away grokking a great wrongness

>“Oh, the usual nonsense—public lewdness, statutory rape, conspiracy to defraud, keeping a disorderly house, contributing to the delinquency of minors, conspiracy to evade truancy laws—”

>“Their license to operate a parochial school was canceled; the kids didn’t go back to public school. No matter, Jubal—none of it matters. The one thing they are technically guilty of can’t be proved. Jubal, if you had seen the Nest you would know that even the F.D.S. couldn’t sneak a spy-eye into it. So relax. After a lot of publicity, charges will be dropped—and crowds will be bigger than ever.”

>She looked startled. “Why, I never considered the possibility, Jubal. Mike can’t lie, you know.”
He did it, right? People are trying to tell me that the charges were trumped up by the government, which feared the growing power of their church, but it seems obvious to me that Michael wouldn't give a shit about arbitrary age of consent laws if they stood between between a person and learning to grok in fullness.

I almost gave up because Jubal is such an annoying self-insertion. The second half of the book is great, I was moved by it and wish I could learn Martian.

I don't get it.
