Idealistic representations are superior to realistic ones, since idealistic ones concern what is superior, and realistic ones what is incidental

>go on a rampage
>get shot by an arrow, continue killing anyway
>bro out with your enemy because your grandfather knew his grandfather who was a legendary hero
>trade armor during battle that’s worth way less than his anyway
>call Aphrodite a whore and injure her when she saves Paris from you
>call Apollo a coward for blocking with a shield
>only get repulsed when Ares starts slaughtering your allies because you don’t want to challenge the gods
>after you’ve retreated, Athena rides up in a golden chariot and commands you to drive her in retaliation
>aim a massive spear with her and stab Ares through the belt-loop

My god this man is peak human. I swear Athena could’ve stripped his clothes off on the dead bodies and forcibly impregnated herself right then and there out of how hard he’d proven the worth of his gene pool

Based Diomedes bros. He is arguably the most entertaining character in the Iliad, both of his highlight parts (when he goes on his rampage and when he and Odysseus steal the horses) are a blast to read.

Damn, you read it in the Greek and you still don't understand that consciously fulfilling your destiny doesn't make you brave at all?
