> The events that transpired shortly after the apprehension of Lucida Donne

After a mother is caught having sexual relations with her ex-husband by her three children, they all process the event as some implied effect on their mother's aging - the eldest son, whom has had long since incestual favor for his mother, begins to plot how he could remove the man from his mother's life (even to the point of murder); the second eldest daughter, who was raised primarily Catholic by the mother's current husband, feels a horrible shame for her mother and her self-proclaimed "whore" nature and begins a slow decline of degrading herself with thoughts that her family name would never be reclaimed anyway with such a mother; the youngest daughter becomes fascinated with sex, continually prodding her mother (who has since the event become reclusive to her children out of embarrassment) and other siblings about the in and outs of sex. She, multiple times in the novel, attempts to rape her older brother in his sleep.

Eventually, the brother becomes aware of his youngest sister's sexual lust, preferring her incestual care over his mother after a failed attempt to murder the man. The middle daughter, who soon comes to learn of this relationship then, goes into a bout of "purity rage" and burns down her family's home with everyone in it. She goes to the authorities and turns herself in, seeing that the only life were she could escape the dirty world would be a prison cell.

Good on you.

"An apocryphal story regarding Faulkner during his Hollywood years found him with a case of writer's block at the studio. He told Hawks he was having a hard time concentrating and would like to write at home. Hawks was agreeable, and Faulkner left. Several days passed, with no word from the writer. Hawks telephoned Faulkner's hotel and found that Faulkner had checked out several days earlier. It seems Faulkner had spoken quite literally, and had returned home to Mississippi to finish the screenplay.

Uh, it is slow but I think it's the message as a whole + Hopkins and Pitt as an acting combo.

I didn't like the woman...AT ALL. I found her whole adoration for Joe to be kind of fruitless but the relationship at times between Hopkins and Pitt just made the movie nice.
