A couple days I totaled up how much I had spent on books since 2019 (the year I actually started reading seriously). To date, I have spent $669.05 dollars on books

It's actually similar to the stages of grief. The way I would go about it is first decide upon the themes of your story, and then come up with characters that can be affected by those themes. I pick some that choose different ways to react to those themes, like where they start and end in relation to those and the other characters.

Thanks for this response and no hard feelings. I’m mostly a lurker on this board because for I have a tendency to making aggressive criticisms and arguments when I post, which DOES usually get interesting responses and is fun in the moment but eventually burns me out.

I don’t have a psychotic vendetta against all of psychology, I know there’s great people in it, my ranting and railing is more of an abstract Kaczynski-esque “fuck you” to the system which makes people mentally ill then “treats” them and profits off the treatment. Of course, there ARE real mental illnesses not just caused by societal conditions, and there are uses for psychiatry, but overall I see the modern state of psychiatry as a farce, incestuously betrothed with Big Pharma as well as the totalitarian technocratic agenda, even if its unwitting pawns are very well-meaning and have very rich inner lives of their own and have helped many of their patients.

Damn, anon, that's 8 books, give or take.
The only one I've ever tried was the Butlerian Jihad one, but I dropped it in less than 100 pages.

I get debating as an actual attempt to both examine both an opponents and your own ideas, but I don't get bloodsport debates. Seriously what do destiny/vaush/warski debates even accomplish. Even from a purely propaganda standpoint people are just going to side with whoever is defending the idea they started with. I wish people discussed theory instead of engaging in contests to see whose better at autistically citing studies.
