Finished Dune Chapterhouse a few hours ago. Let me see if I understood:

The Honored Matres had to go back to the Old Imperium because a old couple called Daniel and Marty discovered a new way to use Holtzmann fields and defeated them. This same couple was overseeing the book's events and somehow could attempt to stop the no-ship. And these are the same old couple the Duncan Idaho ghola saw in Mentat projections throughout the book.

I'm sure there's symbolism of some sort there but I'm struggling to see it

That's beside the cockteasing about the newest Duncan Idaho ghola maaaaybe being a potential Kwisatz Haderach and the whole built-up towards Scytale attempting to escape.

And Miles Teg's super-speed and ability to see no-ships never got any more focus or explanation than "yeah man it's totally genetics".

Oh boy I sure love incomplete plot lines.

That said I teared up a little at Herbert's notes at the end.
