I feel what you're saying. I'm from Germany and for some time have tried to find a framing that prevents people from calling or associating the so called left-einged parties (green and red ones, as well as small alternatives) as left. They are not against authority (one way of defining left) nor are they Marxist (at best, they are faux-Trotskyist).

I could call myself a leftist, but not if people think that means I'm in line with "left-winged" politics as we have it. In a similar way, I am for soverenity, but all the so called "right-winged", i.e. blue parties, are comprised of the intellectual underclass and nobody else would want to be open about supporting their cause either.
