In 1 Corinthians, St. Paul says there is nothing wrong with getting married. Being a monk/priest or nun may be better in terms of holiness, but Jesus sanctified marriage as well (e.g. The Virgin Mary and St. Joseph are saints along with multiple other married couples, marriage is a Sacrament). It's really more of a matter of discerning what God what's you to do rather than what is more holy or not.

Pretty much this >>17039651 and the fact that Protestantism is ultimately based on fideism and personal interpretation of the Bible rather than rational interpretations of the Bible, which itself is the result of William of Ockham's nominalism and voluntarism.

???
The Catholic and Orthodox interpretations of the Bible is pretty much lockstep with those of the Church Fathers and the Apsotles, because we have their interpretations as part of our shared Tradition.

Which writer is better: Seneca or Epictetus? I've heard good things about both and I have Seneca's Letters from a Stoic and Epicetus' Handbook/Discourses, but I only have space for one more book to read since I'm also reading another 2 atm. Also, which one influenced the Church Fathers more as well since I want to jump to St/. Augustine's Confessions and The City of God right after that.

I really enjoy reading and writing fantasy political intrigue, but I'm worried that I'm inadvertently creating an ASOIAF rip-off. Should I just stop?

Hi /lit/

Not a regular on this board. Sometimes I lurk. Been a 4channer for some 8 years. Help a anon out, if you can. I'm not Role playing or trolling.

In two days I have a meeting with a (former) senior vice president of a major publisher who is now a full time agent and publisher. He has lots of connections. I am meeting with him through a mutual friend with the intention of talking to him about becoming my personnel agent and him selling my on going novel.

I have a outline ready and some concept pieces for him. The outline is a basic chapter synopsis and a synopsis on where the novel is going. Hopefully he will be taking a look at my writing after the meeting is concluded. Anything that I should know going in please give me your solid advice. Thank you /lit/. This is a big opportunity and I want to be prepared going in.

Finna check these out. You know I always imagined Raskolnikov and Razumikhin as more than friends. Like Raz prob sucked Raskolnikovs dick when he was sick and brought him back to life. Then fed him soup in the morning :3

Yet he wore no helmet and no chain mail either,
Nor any breastplate, nor gauntlets on his arms,
He had no spear and no shield for thrusting and smiting,
But in his hand he held a branch of holly
That is the greenest of when the groves are bare,
And an ax in the other hand, huge and menacing
A fearsome bearded-ax to find words to tell of.
The length of its head was at least a yard and a half,
The point all hammered out of green steel and gold,
The blade brightly burnished, with a broad edge,
Shaped for shearing, sharp as razors.
The grim knight gripped the stout handle of the weapon.
It was wrapped with iron to the shaft's end
And all engraved with green in graceful designs.
Rich embroidery above buttons of bright green,
The knight rides straight ahead into the hall,
Making for the high dais, undaunted by anything,
With no greeting to anyone, but his eyes high above them.
The first sound from him: "Where," he said,
"Is the head of this gathering? I would be glad
To set eyes on that knight, and I have something to say to him."

Over the knights he cast his eye
Riding up and down,
Stooping and looking hard to see
Who might have most renown.

They went on staring at the knight for some time,
Everyone wondering what it might mean
For a man and a horse to acquire such a color,
As green as the grass grows, and greener still, it seemed,
The green enamel glowing brighter on the gold.
All of them standing there stared and crept closer to him
With all the wonder in the world, to see what he would do.
For they had seen many marvels but never any like this,
So they all thought it might be a phantom or some faerie's trick,
So that many of the noble knights were afraid to answer,
And all were struck by his voice and stayed stone still,
And there was a silence like death through the great hall.
Not a sound rose out of them, as though they had all fallen asleep.

Not I think, from fear only,
But some waiting for
Their King, out of courtesy,
To let him answer.

Have there been any films made that stylistically capture the same type of imagery as in painting like this and pic related?

I'm not good with words so I dunno how to describe it.
