I am, and no, controlling for SES, using culture-free tests etc. will not make the difference between US blacks and US whites go to zero. Controlling for SES will reduce the gap, but that's an unfair test for the reason that intelligence causes SES differences, so if one controls for SES differences, one is actually controlling for some part of the intelligence difference. An unfair test, but one that still doesn't remove the difference.

Actually, most tests used in the US are slightly biased in favor of blacks if anything. That finding surprised researchers quite a bit, because of the popular belief that tests are biased in favor of whites.

Now, the question of test bias with US blacks was settled in the academic literature decades ago (in the 1980's), only the popular opinion is very slow to follow suit. :)

Here. Data for you. As everybody can see, even black children that belong to the SES class with the highest IQ are still way below white children in similar SES. Actually, as can be seen, even the black children in the highest SES score lower than the white average of 100.
