Well, here's something simple -

A father comes home from drinking in the middle of night to find his wife about to commit suicide.

The story would be him seeing it unfold from like a window outside or something (the process of her writing the note, the tying of the noose, etc.) and him contemplating his actions to save her.

You could really take this a multitude of ways - he could re-hash a bunch of stuff that leans towards not saving her, you could immediately have him save her and then she kills herself with the backup gun instead, you could have them discuss their issues and then allow him to let her die before him - whatever.

If you haven't read The Importance of Being Earnest, that's a short and fun read.
