Why is this guy your hero again? If you admire him from his writing, focus on the technical writing aspect of what he tells you, don't pay any mind to anything else. If you're in awe of his superior morals, then do the opposite.
You're already in the fucker's class. You paid money to learn from him, one way or the other. Who cares if he's not your friend? Steal what you can from him, and advance on your own personal journey. Maybe once you make it big you'll find him again at some conference, and you'll be able to see more eye-to-eye.
