I slept with an art hoe from the former once. She got me to go to community college for a while, and now I can't help but romanticize the writing/english programs from my position as a wagecucked line cook with 60 credits and no future

I'm applying to varios US universities next year and would like to start working on my entry essay. Any of you have experience applying to colleges and writing entry essays? Any particular tip or resources to keep in mind when writing it?
From what I've heard the goal of the essay is to distinguish myself from the rest of the students, should I focus my essay around this idea?
Also, essay writing general I guess.

What are some books that talk about how counter-elite groups form or how elite groups will change in their nature either being subverted from an outside group or subverting inside groups? This seems like an interesting phenomenon that I’m especially seeing if it existed before the 20th Century. Rapture, if you’re reading this, I’d love to hear your reccs.

The real aristocracy has retreated from the world. What’s ironic is that the wealthiest man i know is also the most educated, by a long shot—but he isn’t affiliated with any institution, he just hangs out around his private libraries in Boston and the Tatte near Harvard square. Chill dude, usually wears sweat clothes. Has read more at 30 than i can comprehend.

The aristocracy exists, they are educated as fuck, they have real plans, but they are not the optically aristocratic you would think.

Hey /lit/ please give me advice on how to write a compelling essay. I'm applying to a Harvard program and am having difficulty in this writing process explaining how this research program would benefit me and what I hope to gain.

Like wtf am I supposed to do to grab their attention? Any help is greatly appreciated.

i enjoy it here. i like cambridge, and i've traveled around to enough campuses to know how lucky i am to be at a place where people actually give a shit about knowledge/the general state of the world, however misguided or blind their intentions might be. i've grown, and benefited, and expect to continue to grow and benefit--i think, like most things, higher education often turns out to be whatever it is you're willing to put into it.
