Ehem, welcome to my Ted talk.
I would like to present my favourite book - You must change your life by Peter Sloterdijk.
In this book Sloterdijk talks about the [will towards sublime]. He claims this will is a psychological reality for some(?) people.
Religions are not real - all of them are a form of anthropotechincs, were a person tries to become something bigger. This will is triggered by the sublime. For example, christians want to be like Jesus, nietzcheans want to be like a superhuman (i know this doesn't work this way but still), communists want to be like...I don't know...Stahanov? Whatever.
He presents various cases of how sublime shaped lifes of some people like Foucault, Kafka, Heidegger, Chioran, Heidegger etc.
He concludes this works by saying that staying the same is immoral. You must change it because it might be too late one day.

Sloterdijk talks about the idea of sports, olympics and the newfound interest in "self-improvement" after it was almost buried with the slow death of religion.
I thought "you must change your life" was a really good book and definitely worth a read. It shines some interesting lights on Nietzsche.
