These kinds of "arguments" always trigger me. It started back when I asked my philosophy lecturer what the actual rebuttal to positivism is. After all, if it's the laughing stock of philosophy there must be some kind of actual rejoinder to it. Right?

Nah. His "answer" was just that if positivism is correct there's no point to philosophy so they just ignore it so that they can keep philosophising. There was a lame attempt at fictionalism but it's obvious that fictionism has no great animating attraction.

Anyway, the point is that ideas are right or wrong independent of how personally convenient you find their implications. If morality says that you are a bad person then that's the answer whether you like it or not, but time and fucking time again I have seen people writhe their way out of this conclusion.
