Alright lads I'm new here but I'm doing my best to up my book knowledge

I tried reading the myth of Sisyphus and his essays about the absurd and really didnt understand much apart from a select few passages

So I read L'Étranger and I really liked it. The book seemed slow at first but in the last five pages or so it really sped up and especially the scene where he yells at the priest was really good.

Is there any secondary literature I can read on The Stranger? Anything goes from articles and blogs to copypasta and meme pictures

Explain to me why anyone should ever take this guy seriously. From what I've heard of him and studied, he sounds more like some obtuse faggot who attempts to obscure and change philosophy to justify his own poorly convoluted ideas and blatant hedonism.

His suggestion is pretty fucking stupid if you ask me. He was either too much of a coward to face and deal with the inconsistency in his philosophy and his suggestion or just too stupid to think of any solution to it.

The only redeeming thing about him is that he acknowledges that his suggestion is inconsistent and that the hope that he asks us to carry is a futile one.

I'll never understand why camus is held in such high regard by /lit/ when he seems like just another hack incapable of building anything in the void left by what he broke down.

I know nothing of Western philosophy since the second century AD, with the most basic knowledge of people like Nietzsche and Locke. I really want to learn, but I don't want to be a Wikipedia poser. I plan to spend the summer reading primary sources.

Which thinkers ought I read about? I'm definitely going to look into Kant, Hegel, Russel, Camus, Foucault, and Sartre, but where ought I begin with them? And who else should I read?
