How much weight do you put into the first page of the book? What sort of pacing do you like or dislike?

I have a small pile of books I've borrowed from local little libraries and I'd say a good half of them have waaaaaaay too much world building in the first few pages. Like it drones on and on and there is no sense of progression yet.

Any good examples you wanna share?

Without giving away the plot, once you read them in series you'll understand that the books are all connected and the characters tell the story in a non-linear fashion. The writing is purposefully done in a way that you're seeing it from the perspective of the "mc" who is at different ages in life throughout the books. Can't really say more without giving away too much.
