I know the vibe you yearn for. I read Knut Hamsun's Pan and it satiated me briefly. Then I watched a vintage video series of an old man building a cabin by himself (as per recommendations from /out/). Again, I was for a time warm and full inside. But the hunger came back for that comfy feeling, the odd melancholy from imagining building a cabin fire on a lonely rural property after a snow, creeping in from the outside of my buzzing consumerism. It slowly is donning on me that consumption is antithetical to the dream which I apparently yearn to inhabit. I need to instead direct my life towards cold mornings and warm drinks, and silence the addictive bustle and consumer busy-ness.

But anyway, Louis L'Amour's short story collections are also great.

Sometimes, every once in a while, you read or hear something so completely, ridiculously retarded, that you just have to take a break. Your post is one of those things. May Allah guide you, poor soul.

How many pages of your novel do you write per hour? I just started and needed 11 hours for one A4 page. If I want a decently sized novella I would need to write about 50-70 A4 pages and if I continue with that pace it would take another 500 hours at least, without editing and stuff. This can't be right. My worst fear is losing interest or realizing it's shit when I'm like 450 hours or so in. How the fuck does "I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream" got finished in a single night?
