Any Greek Gnostic authors we should know about?

If you are religious and understand that the spirit is unlimited and yet existence is limited and painful, why would you not seek to escape the limitation of existence? Are their any books that counter this feeling? It makes perfect sense to me, gnosticism is surely right.

Catholicism not only says that empty ritual is enough, but that it is preferable. Rational or even generally affective guilt or any other state of mind is explicitly shunned in favor of ritual expression thereof, actual p-zombiehood. Imagine what the God demanding such a thing is like.

Suffering in this world is not an iridescence on the surface of indifference. It is the world itself, and our external lives are always stoking it simply by running their course. The most effective way to reduce your suffering footprint as well as your own suffering is to reject this world altogether.

Certain aspects of Jesus have a very sinister ring to them. His whole thing of humbleness towards men, the implication that Human suffering is an integral part of the Eschatological blueprint, and almost French Philosopher-like apathy are telling signs of a certain someone.

Then again a lot of other aspects are straight up Gnostic and fiercely so, more radical than any heresy.

Yes. It's not "typical Marxist", it's typical common sense. Reaping the "benefits" of smoking cigarettes, for example, perpetuates addiction. Attending your master's banquet perpetuates your slavery, probably even more than just being a slave does. The roller coaster of dukkha, so on and so forth. There are many descriptions and analogies for this process. It's only alien to STEMlords.
