That compliment will make a nest in the back of his mind. To creep up on him in the small hours of the night, when nothing but the sound of passing cars, nightbirds, and the ceiling fan can be heard. To bounce around his head and torment him with thoughts of a missed connection - a 'should I have done something more?' - a hundred 'what if's - a dozen sleepless nights imagining a fantasy, a construct with a woman who liked his eyes and his cheap, forty dollar owl-clockwork necklace. He liked her eyes, too. He will remember that moment for the rest of his life; Within a week, she will forget it ever happened.

I havent been reading much lately
Last things I finished were Children of Hurin (great, might be my favorite first age work from Tollers)
Growth of the soil (great, immediately became by top 3)
Mythology by edith hamilton
(Good, read it so i can have a baseline for when I start the greek canon soon(soon lol))
I also have been "working on" dosto's library. Currently on his short stories, but I stopped after white nights because he somehow wrote a book about me and I got offended and scared. Haven't picked it up since, but it's on my nightstand. I feel like I have to finish these short stories before I pick up anything new, which would be 1) beren and luthien 2) walden 3) the illiad 4) something else by dosto
I should probably read today but I'm tired and depressed and more than anything I really just want to sleep forever
