if you have the attention span for it I would suggest some Tolstoy, either War and Peace or Anna karenina, as both of these novels deal heavily in themes of meaning and the search for meaning and the superficiality that exists all around us and permeates our lives and that search and how we get caught up in it and measure ourselves against it. theyre big honkin books that can intimidating but they arent as dense or difficult to tackle as something like Moby Dick

on a more personal note Id like to add that you've taken a big first step and if you really engage some of these texts and find some direction id say you will hopefully be on a good path, and even if things dont transform dramatically over night, its important to remember how important it is to just be on the right path, so dont beat yourself up too hard
