Michael scott earle being a bitch on fb (2/??)
If I REALLY wanted to make a ton of money, I’d write books for women. The market is way bigger, the readers there are less discerning, and the consumers are just way nicer (They are. Women almost never leave reviews under 3 stars.) If I look at the top authors across all the genres of books, women authors, writing books for women, make WAY more money than I do with a quarter of the production speed. That’s why I always thought it was funny when I saw independent authors in random “author strategy groups” talking about how well I’m doing and how lucrative the harem market must be. It’s kind of laughable, because they are ignoring the fact that I was publishing a book a week, while an author like Shannon Meyer (who write pretty much the same books, but for women) makes about the same money as me, and she does a book every two-ish months. I mean, if you were really going to go into a new market, would you go into one where the top dog does 4 books a month, or one where the top dog does half a book in the month? The answer seems obvious to me.

So, let’s take a look at the screen shot again, and keep in mind that I’m writing these books FOR MEN. In fact, take out that they are books, and replace them with like… cake or something.

I baked these dudes a cake for their party, they took a bite, and then told everyone the cake fucking sucked.

Let that sink in a moment and think about the repercussions of their posts. This isn’t like “I didn’t like this particular cake MSE made as much as his other cakes, but you might, so you should try it.” These are visceral reactions to a cake that I MADE FOR THEM with hopes that they would like it.

And these dudes are in my fan club, and they do like some of my series.

Also consider that I’m the #1 guy in this genre (or I was before I got banned). I’ve written more books than like 99.9% of the authors alive, and I like to think I kind know what I’m doing. My books might not be perfect, but they are probably super close to being exactly what they (men) want.

But they aren’t perfect.
