Is it bad that I judge people who are over the age of 18 and still have The Perks of Being a Wallflower or (to a much lesser extent) Catcher In the Rye listed as their favorite book?

I think the whole thing was a social experiment by Salinger.
He was trying to make an utterly pointless novel which people would read way too deeply into and praise for its ingenuity when it's boring and Holden is unlikeable in most every respect.
The only reason I think people like it is because it's a picture of teenage angst in a psuedo elegant (read: vintage) frame that's easy to read and thus easily relateable.
I don't like it very much at all.

Who are some authors who have multiple works consistently recommended?

Melville has Moby Dick, but outside of that you hardly hear much about any of his other works.

I know Vonnegut has a bunch of shit. I've heard Slaughterhouse-Five & Cat's Cradle the most but I've also heard Sirens of Titan and Breakfast of Champions. Tolstoy has War and Peace & Anna Karenina, Orwell has Animal Farm & 1984, etc.

Pic definitely not related.
