Is 19th century Romanticism, with regular meter, rhyme, and all the other classical conventions of poetry, a good entry point for someone who knows nothing of poetry? These elements are the only things that really make me interested in poetry at all.

/lit/, have you ever wanted to change your name? Embody that worldly literary character you always wanted to be? I was thinking about it - and I don't have particularly strong family ties, so I was thinking of changing my last name too. What are some of your favorite last names?

Do you, when meeting someone/reading a book, make predictions on their personality? I just met a woman named Katherine recently - and she was unbearably rude and shrewd, which was hysterical to me and made her presence much more bearable (Taming Of The Shrew).

I think I'm partial to names like Wintermere or or Byron or Verdant (or maybe Vermont? my name translates to this roughly). I think the first two are a little too canonical for me to pick, though. What do you think?

Pic related, one of the greatest names of all time.

I wrote an essay arguing that the Romantics were "little more than 18th-century hipsters" and compared studying them to future scholars studying Tao Lin. My professor called it "absurd" and gave me a "D". I thought it was pretty well argued, and I'm considering filing a grade appeal. Thoughts?

Strict articulation make my words worth billions,
William with a double-u in the fuckin' buildin'.
Ballad lyricist with the godlike flow,
Rethinking the 18th century, half you don't even know.
I wrote epic poetry like Artegal and Elidure.
My references to myths and ancient civilizations remain obscure.
My form stayed complex and tough to comprehend.
I never sold out to the free-verse trend.
I was there as the world turned,
Marched on Versailles and watched the Bastille burn.
I made Tintern Abbey a household name.
No joke, born in Cockermouth, Cumberland.
