In fact, Nietzsche refuted himself in those three words. Saying "God is dead" is the same as saying "God is no longer alive", therefore Nietzsche is accepting that God was alive for some time although now he's not. But this is contradictory with the nature of God, who as the supreme fundament of Being, he cannot stop being. Saying "God is dead" is admitting that God exists and he will always exists as long as he's God.
