Penguins are fine. They're not loaded with extras like Nortons, and the quality is basically "mass market," but what do you expect for $10-20? As for bad translators, that's a sin Oxford and others are guilty of too at times.

No worse than other paperbacks, usually. I sometimes take a thick black marker and touch up a really battered spine (like a few of these).
