So if I want to get into philosophy I first must
>read about Greek mythology
>read Greek authors
Yeah? And what then?

Dave Rubin often has interesting guests on his show despite being a mindless drone. Peterson's interactions with Sam Harris are quite interesting and he is actually knowledgeable in psychology when he's not babbling about Christianity and Jungian archetypes while being evasive about his beliefs to keep the profits rolling in. The other two are pure cancer and best avoided entirely.

Natural philosophy gave rise to all science. Philosophy necessarily exists on the peripheral because it keeps inventing disciplines which divide off from it to be focused on exclusively while philosophy itself continues to explore things that aren't necessarily falsifiable.

Ask a biologist or clarify your question. Or are we speaking metaphorically? If we are, whatever you want it to be.

Pick up a copy of Nichomichean Ethics by Aristotle. Read it and articulate your points of disagreement.

Don't buy into the having to go in order of authorship meme. Just read whatever you want Nietzsche. Camus. Plato. Whatever. Not even university philosophy courses progress in order.

You will struggle with texts and that's okay. Watch lectures and read readers on the books you're working on to deepen your understanding of them. Google terms you don't recognise or understand completely.

You will notice philosophers refer to other philosophers. Look them and their ideas up also. Stanford encyclopedia of philosophy, and even Wikipedia, is your friend. Good luck.

I like Aristotle's answer the best.
To live virtuously in pursuit of health, wealth, and beauty, with one's time best spent in philosophical contemplation.

Wait. Why don't we just make a dedicated philosophy imageboard ourselves and encourage the philosophers here to migrate?

What is the good life, anon?

I agree with Aristotle that it is to live virtuously and pursue health, wealth, and beauty, with our time best spent in philosophical contemplation.

What do you think?
