Usually, I see this tremendous discrepancy between imaginative and real world with pubertal gals like her, and some never grow out of it. What is the angriest you have ever been in regards to something /lit/ related?

For me, it was when my nieces were telling me about their reading in school. My oldest niece (12) was reading To Kill a Mockingbird.

I told her we were not allowed to read that book because of the use of racial slurs throughout it.

I asked to see her book and saw where the text had been blacked out wherever there were words that would be considered offensive.

I never thought I could be so mad. I don't usually get political, but the censorship of this book and many others is the left at work. It is just as offensive to light the god damned book on fire to me and these fucking, whiny, PC-enabling, half-faggots are the dirty shits in charge of the foundation of American mindsets.

This is 2015 and some people still unironically believe in essentialism.

People who only read to seem cool make me want to fucking murder them. I read for fun, I read for knowledge, I read to become a better man. I don't read for people on facebook to call me 'cool' for slogging through the latest shit cache that everyone else reads only because others are reading it as well, not because they have any clue how literary merit is measured. Sometimes I take a look around at those people and get fucking angry, but then I just start to pity them; after which I feel the pity leave my body and return as a will for action - one day I will put a bullet through the head of someone that I can tell only reads to look 'cool'.

How do I convince my brother to stop being a useless piece of shit?

I think in 5-6 years all that he did was re-read harry potter for fucks sakes. Sure we grew up and loved it, but I simply don't see him opening any other fucking book. I've tried to ease him into reading by recommending fantasy/sci-fi with cool plot, showing him movie adaptations of books.

I even gifted him the boxset of harry potter books since he loved them so much and now he's not even reading those, just listening to fucking audiobooks of it. Of course I also gave him a fucking stack of other books, sci-fi, fantasy, dostoievski, you fucking name it, and it's untouched.
