It's insane to think about, as good as anything in a fantasy novel.

I have a desk job where I'm inside staring at screen, often waiting around, for at least 5 hours a day.
During that time I try to write; I used to read but it made me too sleepy and my snoring would alert my coworkers.
I don't get a whole lot of writing done because of shitposting and/or writers' block, lately.

I don't fucking understand metrical feet. This sounds like I am kidding, but I'm not. Like, I think I may literally be autistic. I know what an iamb is, and so on, but for some reason I always fuck up managing weak syllables versus strong syllables. Does anyone else have this trouble? I always wind up ending lines on strong syllables when I shouldn't.

I love nothing more than writing and telling stories. I derive all my joy and my self-validation from being a writer and a poet. I feel no impulse to get a job whatsoever. My art is what gives me happiness and drives me to live, not any success I could achieve in a career.

I am an American so I don't have some comfy Euro welfare state to fall back on. My parents are rich but I'm worried they're going to cut me off sooner rather than later. I have thought about applying for welfare or Social Security. I have a touch of the 'tism so I could justify it on disability grounds. I really just want to fuck off and write and not be bothered.

Basically I understand where McCarthy is coming from. Who the fuck wants to work a job when you could be writing instead? Writing is what matters. Writing is all that's important.
