How would you convince him to change his ways?

It's a bit unfortunate that everyone is just doing the murderous villain test instead of focusing on OP's point. I took the test and posted the results in this thread myself before I even bothered to read the OP.
While I am interested in philosophy, I come to this board mainly to discuss "literary fiction" novels, and I have had a similar experience in the sense that nearly every discussion regarding these books are very surface-level and seem to be done with posters who have only read the general plot synopsis. People seem to be more interested in discussing the author of a book than the book itself. I have similar experiences in real life. People will claim to read a book and then not pick up on the most obvious references to it. While it is possible they may have forgotten everything about such book if it has been a while since they read it, I feel like many people are actually just "posers" for lack of a better term. They claim to read so they can seem smart, pick up some basic book knowledge so their façade holds up a bit, and then assume that no one else will have read what they read.

This is particularly strange to me because I've started reading because I felt retarded all the time, like I could never pick up on any literary references. I also enjoy how books allow you to take them at your own pace, and it's a lot easier to put away a book and come back to it later since I'm often too slow mentally to keep up with what happens movies or TV shows. Even then it still can take me months to read a book.
I'm so retarded I got memed into reading books by everyone else who doesn't actually read.

Anime protagonists tend to be extraverted and capable, and the loser that watch anime are supposed to self-insert as those protagonists to escape from their pathetic existence.
Holden wouldn't work as an anime protagonist because he's an inherently flawed and human character, not some perfect teenage boy with magical powers.

You're really frustrating me right now. I was trying to show hospitality by answering your questions but now it seems like you're just pestering me peering questions to intentionally piss me off. Granted, this is an anonymous imageboard and I am under no obligation to respond to your posts, so I suppose I'm just being retarded, yet still you do nothing but ask increasingly personal questions. Is this some weird experiment you're trying? I think I've seen you do this to other anons in previous /wwoym/ threads. Neck yourself glowie.

Even though every TCitR thread is the same, it's still entertaining to read through them.
