uneducated take. privatio boni is used in retroduction methodology as a way to navigate to the ultimate truth. It's much more grounded in objective reality than the sort of mythological soothsaying hoopla gnostics tend to use. gnosticism's reification of evil is used as a purely aesthetical aid to achieve gnosis, requiring a sort of unaccountable subjective-feeling reason to operate on at all, obscuring its true mechanics that neo/platonists lived to establish. basically an ontological shortcut for incapable mystics who can't into platonism because they can't handle the unfiltered spiritual honesty and intellection that discursive reason requires. its less useful and less truthful.

So, we all agree he is the best pre-socratic, i.e. the patrician choice. Can /lit/ recommend some secondary sources or insights from other authors? Hard mode: no Heidegger.
