>Philosophy
Don't you people and /sci/ hate philosophy though?
I mean there's even another thread about it.

>Science, appreciation of the arts
Quite.

He isn't really. He's frantically trying to fit in, which is very different from the gentle detachment of the flâneur who mostly strolls around idly and observes. The flâneur is above all a gentleman of leisure as far as I'm concerned, often with some interest in the arts. And with a taste for the fine things in life, as long as they don't require labour. If anything, he's a gentleman bohemian with an appetite for loafing about town. He might as well be destitute as rich though.

Rudyard Kipling, George Orwell and DFWalrus

Rudy Kippins for being the only poet I'v ever liked.
Orwell for saying sensible things.
DFW for making uninteresting things seem interesting.

My greetings.

I've been lately quite immensed with short science fiction stories with focus on actualy scientific materials. For example, most Issac Asimov fiction is exactly that. (think of "The Last Question")

I read this today:

I was wondering if you gentlemen have any recommendations on this matter.
I really need to read some more of this style.

So I went to see a movie with some friends, we were a bit late and had to get tickets to a showing later than we had hoped.
We all decide to pass the time just walking around (this was in a pretty large shopping center), so we decide to stop by a Books-a-Million.

I peruse through the isles, and then I saw something horrendous.

I walked into the 'teenager' section, Vampire books EVERYWHERE, I do mean EVERYWHERE, I would guess that about 90% of the books were all vampire related, and they had a whole section full of Twilight.

What the fuck is wrong with this generation?
