Is /lit/ familar with Mishima Yukio? I've read "The Temple of the Golden Pavilion" and a short play entitled Patriotism.

He's quite an interesting character. Well, was I should say. He took a Japanese high-ranking officer (his friend, actually) hostage, made a speech to the stationed troops about reviving the Emperor, and, after being jeered at, committed seppuku with the assistance of his militia. .

Anyway, I've got to choose a topic on one of the two pieces. I wasn't sure if any of you are familiar with him, and had any interesting I could examine about either of the works.

Is it OK to read a Japanese novel translated into English even though I speak English but it's not my native language?
